Optional Lift Gate Delivery Services
We work hard to take the stress out of purchasing (and receiving) our welding tables and other heavy custom metal works. In fact, that’s the whole reason we assemble our products prior to delivery — we want your new tools ready for use! As you can imagine, moving 500-1,500 pound welding tables across the country is quite different than dropping a letter off at FedEx.
Texas Metal Works tries to make it easy for our customers by including free basic ground transport on orders of $799 or more. Sometimes, our customers request more options than our free standard transportation.
No Forklift, No Problem
The only way for us to get our largest products to customers is to strap them to a pallet and ship them via a common carrier. You’ve seen these huge 18-wheelers taking goods all over the country… companies like ABF, Road Runner, and hundreds more!
On our end, we load those pallets onto a box truck with a forklift, and that truck takes them to a distribution warehouse where they are again moved to another truck destined for your location. But the truck that will ultimately transport your pallet to you only keeps a pallet jack on board, which they use to bring your pallet to the end of the truck where it’s your responsibility to get it out.
Some people, especially those in rural areas might have a tractor or other piece of equipment that can be outfitted with forks. If so, that will work! But if you don’t have any sort of equipment to lift the very heavy pallet, the carrier needs to bring a special truck with a motorized elevator on the back. The driver rolls the pallet onto the lift and lowers it to the ground for you.
Of course, those special trucks cost money, and they pass that on to us.
NOTE: Using a liftgate service will almost always delay the shipment by an extra day or two. That’s because they need to transfer the package to a smaller box truck equipped with a liftgate. But hey, when you need it, you need it! 😉
Easy delivery.
My table weighs in around 675 pounds and getting it down from truck height would not have been possible without this service.
They used Roadrunner and it all went well.
